The Municipality of North Grenville undertook a comprehensive Investment Readiness Assessment by McSweeney & Associates in mid-2015. The effectiveness of the program is best expressed by Teri Devine, Economic Development Officer in a recent update to the Economic Development Advisory Committee and Council – which follows:
As you know, we submitted a response to a Request for Information (RFI) today for an industrial site through the Ministry of Economic Development, Employment and Infrastructure. The request provided us with a one week turn around time, so was very similar to the mock process we did through our Investment Readiness Assessment project that was delivered by McSweeney & Associates this summer.
I’m happy to report that our ability to respond to this first phase of vetting has improved by at least 70% in efficiency as the McSweeney assessment process took us through the exercise of gathering a variety of the key data that site selectors request, so was a smooth process. This also allowed us the opportunity to work more closely with the property owner who was able to provide us a variety of information to support the response in a very targeted way.
Though we still have work to do on developing more robust packages and compiling more data through a variety of recommendations by McSweeney, I wanted to let you know that we certainly are benefiting from the process already.
Economic Development Officer,
Municipality of North Grenville
