Ian Duff
EcD, CEcD, B.S.Sc, MURP, President
Ian is a highly sought-after strategic advisor that takes a very hands-on – yet unique – approach to strategic planning. Ian has been the project lead and wrote or co-wrote all the strategies prepared by McSweeney & Associates in the past 10 years. Urban and Rural Strategic Development has become one of Ian’s areas of specialization and he has been sought out by communities across Canada to provide guidance and advice. He knows consultation and engagement – all of our strategies rely on successful consultation as a part of the strategy development process.
My Story
I love what I do. I truly mean that. Ask any of my clients and everyone I work with; I make all my projects a fun, engaging and positive experience. I ensure that my passion for helping others is translated into all our projects. My official handle around here is President, but what I really do is listen.
I excel at hearing the needs of my clients and communities, then creating fresh ideas and solutions collaboratively with my team. This is one of the reasons why I am often asked to come back and work repeated with my clients. Yes, we are sought after for the highest quality of work we do, and yes my team is one of the best in the business, and yes we aim to be the most respected consulting firm in Canada; but, at the end of the day I just want to help communities succeed.
When I am not working with my clients or helping to elevate our consulting firm, I love to do other things. I am tight with my family and we love to travel all over the place. Whether knee deep in mud hiking and slugging a tent around trying to find some flat ground, lounging on a lava rock beach sipping a local beverage, or trying to find the best local hot dog; I truly love to explore. I also love to relax – my version of relaxing is either sweating it out in the gym or seeing how quickly I can run down Mont Tremblant – notice I didn’t say run up Mont Tremblant…
Feel free to contact me anytime if there is ever anything we can do to help make your community experiences positive and engaging.
